Welcome to Children's Care Academy, a Quaker directed primary school

The Care Children’s Academy (CCA) is a Quaker directed nursery and primary school started a year and a half ago. Schools in Uganda were shut down for covid-19 longer than in any other country – 22 months. Many could not and did not reopen leaving gaping needs for education. Care Children’s Academy started anew to fill gaps in basic children’s education. It started with 57 children, 4 teachers and many parent and other helpers; it has now grown to 160 children and 8 teachers. This is without any large NGO (Non-Government Organization) help, somehow surviving on local leadership donations and American Quaker donations.

More about the Region

This area of Uganda has recently been hit by devastating and deadly floods following drought and increasing food shortages. Many students need help with food which the school provides. The Bugiri area has no sewage management system and the water is not safe overall. 80% of Ugandans do not have safe toilet systems. Childhood disease such as Malaria is rampant.
