To stand firmly through teaching children skills to bring up their standard of living by brightening their ways of self-reliance. Core values include Quaker SPICES:
Care Children’s Academy (CCA) started anew to fill gaps in basic children’s education. It started with 57 children, 4 teachers and many parent and other helpers; it has now grown to 160 children and 8 teachers. This is without any large NGO (Non-Government Organization) help, somehow surviving on local leadership donations and American Quaker donations.
This area of Uganda has recently been hit by devastating and deadly floods following drought and increasing food shortages. Many students need help with food which the school provides. The Bugiri area has no sewage management system and the water is not safe overall. 80% of Ugandans do not have safe toilet systems. Childhood disease such as Malaria is rampant.
“I have shared with elders both Quaker and non-Quaker community around who feel the good impact of (the Care Children’s Academy) project in the area, so I pray for support and lifting this project to support community as we work together with the community leaders and church officials for accountability and sustainability.”
